Fantasy Football Fanatics!
Take this situation with Peyton Manning, quarterback Indianapolis Colts seriously.
I had a cervical fusion myself and I couldn’t imagine playing professional football with that injury. In case you don’t know what they do with that type of injury, I’ll fill you in.
The surgery involves placing a piece of bone between two vertebrae in the neck (could be other parts of the spine too) and allowing them to fuse together. Much like welding two pieces of metal together. The difference is the weld is usually stronger than the original metal. A neck fusion involves bone, not metal. The bone will fuse together and feel okay for a while. As time goes by the bone becomes more susceptible to cracking.
I currently have that exact problem. My vertebrae are developing cracks above and below the two vertebrae that were fused. I ask you, would you want to play professional football and take the hits a quarterback takes with that kind of condition?
I can’t begin to tell you all the complications that can develop.
Draft your fantasy football teams accordingly,
